Gerald Watson was born in Pretoria, South Africa.
He served in the South African Intelligence community from 1977 to 1997 in an operational, military and civilian capacity, namely:
- The SA Military Intelligence Service (SAMIS) from 1977 to 1980;
- The National Intelligence Service (NIS/NIA) from 1981 to 1995; and
- The South African Secret Service (SASS) from 1996 to 1997.
He specialized in counter-intelligence and counter-espionage operations, covert intelligence collection and security-related investigations.
He performed military duty on the SWA/ Namibia border during the Angolan conflict and served six years at the South African Consulate in New York and the South African Embassy in London in a consular and diplomatic capacity respectively.
During his career he completed over thirty-five formal departmental courses in various aspects of security, investigations, intelligence and personnel management.
He resigned from government service in 1997, on the level of Director (Brigadier level).
He qualified as a polygraphist at the American International Institute of Polygraph (AIIP), Atlanta, Georgia, USA and established ‘The Polygraph Professionals cc’ in Pretoria in 1997.
‘The Polygraph Professionals cc’ quickly became one of the most respected polygraph companies in the industry and serviced many prestigious clients in the private and public sector, not only in South Africa but also in the neighbouring states and Angola.
In 2000, Gerald was recruited to work for the Abu Dhabi Police in the United Arab Emirates as a specialist instructor and strategic training advisor. He served in this capacity for five years.
He returned to South Africa in 2005 and re-activated ‘The Polygraph Professionals cc’.
Over the years he has distinguished himself as a very competent investigator and accomplished polygraphist. He has been very successful in exposing many dishonest employees and criminals in many businesses, economic sectors and industries and has set the benchmark for effective pre-employment and periodic polygraph screening procedures.
The Polygraph Professionals cc’ now serves the needs of clients in the following areas: North Gauteng (Pretoria), North-West province, Mpumalanga and Limpopo province.
Gerald is able to conduct polygraph examinations in the following languages: English, Afrikaans, Sepedi, Sesotho, Setswana and South Sotho.

Hy het tydens sy beroep meer as vyf-en-dertig formele departementele kursusse op verskeie aspekte van sekuriteit, ondersoeke, intelligensie en personeelbestuur voltooi.
Hy het in 1997 uit die staatsdiens bedank, op die vlak van Direkteur (Brigadier vlak).
Hy het in 1997 by die American International Institute of Polygraph, Atlanta, Georgia, VSA as poligraafis gekwalifiseer en ‘The Polygraph Professionals cc’ in Pretoria gestig.
‘The Polygraph Professionals cc’ het vinnig een van die mees gerespekteerde poligraafmaatskappye geword in die industrie en het baie noemenswaardige kliente in die privaat- en publiekesektor bedien, nie net in Suid Afrika nie maar ook in die buurstate en Angola.

Hy het al groot suksesse behaal met die ontblooting van talle oneerlike werknemers en kriminele in baie besighede, ekonomiese sektore en industriee en het die standaard daar gestel vir effetiewe voorindiensname en periodieke poligraafkeuring prosedures.
The Polygraph Professionals cc’ bedien nou kliente in die volgende gebiede: Noord-Gauteng (Pretoria), Noord-Wes province, Mpumalanga en Limpopo provinsie.
